Allison Ivie is currently the Executive and Policy Associate for Audrey Sheppard Women’s Health Consulting since September 2014.
Prior to joining Ms. Sheppard’s firm, Allison was a Women’s Policy Inc. congressional fellow in the 113th Congress for Representative Mike Thompson (D-CA-05). Her legislative portfolio included: women’s issues, LGBT rights, labor, health, education, animal welfare, postal reform and marijuana reform. In Rep. Thompson’s office, Allison worked to expand the Congressman’s outreach to women and launched the largest “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds” economic agenda forum with Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, yielding 400 attendees. She also introduced the bipartisan Medicare Telehealth Parity Act (H.R. 5380), which sought to significantly expand coverage for telehealth services under Medicare.
During graduate school, Allison was a researcher at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University and created the “Women Be Healthy” web page providing sexual and reproductive health information for women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Earlier, she worked for Catalyst Domestic Violence Services in California as a peer counselor for women and children seeking shelter from abuse.
Allison received her Master of Public Policy and Master of Arts in Women and Gender Studies from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She received her B.A. in English and Multicultural Gender Studies with an emphasis in Women’s Studies and her Literary Editing and Publishing Certificate from California State University, Chico.
